Ta-Daa!!

Finished!! I love this trio for baby boy Bryson! The grasshopper, alligator, and patch with initials are adorable in sage green, brown, and a touch of orange on the gator. Just a side note: sewing the ribbon onto the bottom of the burp cloths was the hardest part!! Thanks for your help Brema.



I also finished a cute Halloween shirt for Mary Katherine. I had a little bit of a stabilizer issue when this shirt was stitching, but I think it's not very noticeable :) This is a simple Garanimals shirt from Wal-Mart for $3.50. A little disappointed that Garanimals opted to embelish the neck with some sort of glittery trim, but...for $3.50 I won't complain!

With all of that said (and done) I think we are officially open for business! And, to start things off with a bang I received an order for a monogram/applique on 5 jumpers and 2 shirts today!!

Down with O-P-P...

I realize I'm showing my age by the fact that I've actually heard the old song "Down with O-P-P"...but if you live in the little town of Opp, AL how could you resist a song that spells your town's name?!

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not much of a navigator. So, with GPS programmed to 101 Parish Ave., Opp, AL - I struck out. T&C Pharmacy / TJ's fabric here I come. You have to be a small towner to appreciate a Radio Shack + Pharmacy + Fabric Store all under one roof! A little hesitant about what was to come, but...WOW!!



TJ's Fabric gets a big THUMBS UP from Turkey Tale Designs. Even the "big city" stores don't compare in my opinion. 1000+ bolts of unique patterns and prints. Once I lifted my chin off the floor and came to the realization that I couldn't have them all, here's what I came away with.





Two patterns from each of these sets, a royal blue/white gingham, and a few spools of thread. I also picked up a cute trio from Andaluisa Sewing Center (2 ginghams and a brown) that are going to look awesome for lots of our boy designs.

I chatted with the ladies at TJ's fabrics, picked up a couple of very helpful hooping hints (thank you!), then headed home. My new fabrics are already at work - 3 burp cloths for a baby boy gift and a Halloween outfit for Mary Katherine. A couple of finishing touches still to go, so stay posted for pictures!!

Something Simple

Like most embroidering moms, my "work" time is usually limited to nap time and late at night after everyone else is sleeping. But, I do love being creative and sleep deprivation is something I'm used to, so not a problem :)

We had a run-of-the-mill weekend...Wal-Mart, house cleaning, playing, and of course church. I did get to sample one of my new applique fonts "Applique Swirl Font" and I LOVE it! As with all appliques you have the choice of any fabric color/pattern and thread color. Lots of fonts seem to be geared towards a certain interest (girly, boy-ish, baby, fancy, etc.) but this one is versatile and works great for LOTS of different options.



Sadly, I still have unopened (yes, still in their orignial UNOPENED packaging) baby gifts from almost 2.5 years ago...so, I pulled these out of the closet and...voila! A cute burp cloth. These are made by Gerber and have a bit of a linen look which adds an extra touch of cuteness. Cloth diapers have ENDLESS possiblities! You can add fabrics, ribbons, appliques, names, etc.

New Fabrics & a pony named Suzy!

We made the rounds over the weekend and picked up 11 new fabrics and 2 cute ribbons. Some super cute Halloween/Fall fabrics - so many combination possibilities! Also picked up some team colors for all you Flying Squadron, Tiger, Bulldog and Cougar fans. Of course we'll have options for the Bama & Auburn fans as well.

A little disappointed that I could not upload photos of these fabrics...but it's all because of a pony named Suzy!! Mary Katherine got a BIG surprise when Grandma & Grandpa Jones arrived with a registered miniature pony. So, being the OCD picture-taker that I am, I took tons of cute pictures and forgot to recharge the camera battery. So, photos of the new fabrics (plus maybe a cute shot of MK & Suzy) will follow ASAP.
